About the Game
Session Length: 1 -
3.5 hours
Hello all!
This is a youth learn-to-play Dungeons & Dragons session that goes over the rules of gameplay in a mindful, supportive, and compassionate manner, working with beginner players and their families to collaborate and develop skills in real time. We will have a maximum of 3.5 hours, with a movement and snack break.** You Are Allowed to Bring Your Own Snack, but please no snacks that have peanuts due to allergies.** We will be seated at several large tables within a large gaming space, and there is a flat floor leading directly to the tables. There is also a public bathroom in the back of the store.
We’ll work to build a unique, meaningful, and fun story that honors all of the players’ needs. We have room for six people to help us use our time well and explain the rules clearly and effectively. This is a beginner session, though, so I recommend arriving with that mindset. We will determine a setting and choose characters based on pre-generated stats and backgrounds, though you are always welcome to ask for edits to characters. ** I will bring all minis, dice, trays, tools, and everything else needed to play, but you are welcome to bring your own.**
The recommended ages are 12 to 17, and parents are absolutely allowed to observe. Please reserve a seat individually to ensure ticketing accuracy.
We will be at CollectorMania, a local game shop that has a great vibe, moderate noise level, accessible parking and entry with several interconnected parking lots, lots of minis, and can be found at the website here: https://collectormaniaparker.com/
Collectormania is a very accepting space and can work with Neurospicy Youth and those who might be intimidated by new spaces. There is also plenty of space to move and to step outside if needed for a sensory break. ** Noise level is typically moderate, but sometimes they do get loud. I do recommend bringing noise-canceling headphones or fidgets that offer comfort. I bring sensory tools, but I do not share headphones between players due to hygiene. I just know some people prefer their own.**
Finally, I should note that sometimes three hours is a lot, so if kiddos need a break or to end early, we can do so based on fatigue. Please know kids are not expected to sit the whole time and are always allowed to fidget or walk around.
Please note: RGM does not provide refunds nor do we allow transfers for one shot events.
Parental Responsibility Notice
Parents/Guardians must be present at the end of the game to pick up their child. Each game has a 30-minute ending window, meaning it may conclude at any time within that range. RGM and the venue are not responsible or liable for any child left unattended due to late pickup.
If you anticipate being late, it is your responsibility to contact the Game Master in advance and request that they remain with your child. Please note, it is at the Game Master’s discretion whether they choose to wait.
