About the Game
Session Length: 3 -
3.5 hours
“He is Ancient. He is The Land.”
Have you been wanting to try out Dungeons & Dragons but don’t have a group or aren’t sure where to start? Do you like spooky season and want to immerse yourself in those sweet, sweet Halloween vibes? Well, this is your chance!
This is a single session game designed to introduce you to the current edition of Dungeons & Dragons (5.5e / 2024 ed).
Taking inspiration from the classic D&D adventure “Death House”, you will be pulled into a misty realm filled with horrifying threats and unexpected allies. Explore a gothic mansion, uncover dark secrets, and maybe… just maybe… survive long enough to be heroes.
This event is ideal for folks who are completely new to D&D, or even tabletop roleplaying games in general. It will feature:
- Streamlined character creation: You get to play a character of your own making, guided by an expert Game Master during the first hour of the session. Decide your stats, abilities, and spells… All without spending the whole night figuring out the rules!
- Gameplay cheatsheet: A quick and easy reference as you play, that way you’re never lost!
- Provided materials: Character sheets, pencils, and dice will all be provided. You don’t need to have anything of your own (though feel free to bring it if you have it)!
The Ram will also be providing large mugs of beer at the small pint price as well as 15% off regular menu items (not happy hour or already-discounted stuff) for all players during the session. We also get a comfy, large booth to gather round in.
As a bonus, if you enjoy the session, this is likely to be expanded into a full recurring campaign that you’d get priority to join!
Contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to chat about the game!
About the Game Master
Congratulations! You’ve stumbled across a wild Blurgle, also known as Nate Dean. This creature comes in many varieties: Teacher, Foodie, and (most relevantly) Gamer. Very friendly and easily pliable with a good beer, they are known to engage in all manner of absurdities.
The Blurgle first learned the rules of D&D over 25 years ago by playing the original Baldurs Gate games. He’s been immersed in the infinite worlds of roleplaying games ever since–with a particular affinity for games such as Exalted, Scion, Shadowrun, and D&D 5.5e/5e.
At the table, The Blurgle is known to focus on co-creating compelling and fun narratives above all else. Every player gets a chance to shine, every character gets to contribute and evolve. The Blurgle tends to eschew miniatures and maps in favor of “theater of the mind” gameplay, but he does love all varieties of clicky-clacky math rocks (see also: dice). Even though The Blurgle values the rules and loves to play with the fiddly bits of an RPG system, he will never let those things get in the way of a good story. The Blurgle also loves interesting home-brew systems and regularly engages in game system design as a hobby.
Whether you are an experienced player or brand new, The Blurgle is a welcoming guide to the world of tabletop roleplaying!
