About the Game
Session Length: 2 -
3.5 hours
These things are true: the world is dark, and you are alive. For now.
Did you ever want to be that person who gets to leave behind the “if you’re reading this, I’m already dead” letter? Does the idea of creating a character and crafting their story, knowing their death is inevitable, speak to you? Then you’re gonna love Ten Candles! This tragic horror roleplaying game tells the story of a group of regular folk as they attempt to survive an apocalyptic-style event. While survival may be their goal, their deaths are inevitable, as the final candle is doomed to eventually go out. You will tell their story. How they faced the darkness. How They made them go mad. How hope was within grasp, but inevitably lost. This is not a game for those looking for a happy ending; this is a game that can only end in tragedy.
The following will be provided:
- Index cards for character traits
- Pencils
- Dice
Come prepared to meet your demise.
Please note that communication regarding the game will be via email.
About the Game Master
Welcome, adventurer, and thanks for visiting! I’m The Painted Bugbear, or better known as Al! I’ve been playing Dungeons & Dragons 5e since 2014 and started as a Dungeon Master in 2015, slowly expanding into other games such as Monster of the Week, Ten Candles, and Perils & Princesses, as well as some zanier ones like Cracker Barrel Has Fallen, Goblin Prom, and 3 Raccoons in a Trenchcoat! I’ve also served as a professional Game Master at Gen Con since 2025!
I love crafting stories and telling tales with others while being goofy and having fun, and I hope to bring that energy to your table! I pride myself in providing an engaging and entertaining experience, especially for those that are new to tabletop games, so please don’t hesitate to jump in if you’ve never played before. I can offer several games ranging from one-shots to full campaigns!
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are important to me in my stories and at my table, meaning that I will make sure to do my best to provide a comfortable setting for all in attendance and will not tolerate discrimination. I also do not allow generative artificial intelligence at my table; if you need assistance coming up with a backstory or character art, please feel free to reach out to me rather than a bot!
