Rated 5.0 out of 5

Chris "DastardlyDrave" Swallow, has been a professional GM for over 4 years and has been playing and GM'ing for 30 years, starting with AD&D 2nd Edition!

A Critical Role fan from the early days of the live stream, he is heavily influenced by Matt Mercer's GM style and works to create a cooperative storytelling experience focusing on all the players at the table.  Roleplaying styles from comedy, puns, and a general love of alliteration, to sweeping arcs of high fantasy and epic battles; he does his best to balance players of all types and skills.

He specializes in creating an immersive environment with voices, sound effects, props, digital and physical battlemaps, and fantastical homebrew creatures and items.  A theatre kid from the way back, he tries to make the game an experience worth coming back for!

If you're looking for a game from first time players all the way to experienced players with a heavy focus on the Rule of Cool; look no further!

Chris was my very first DM and has ruined all others for me. 10/10 would recommend!

As a DM Chris has been absolutely amazing! He has been a very relaxed and welcoming and one of the things I love is he does not railroad players so he can tell “his story.” He is very adaptable for whatever the party throws his way.

Both as a DM and as a player, my experience with Chris is nothing short of fantastic! His ability to adapt and pivot to the player’s decisions is smooth and allows for player agency beyond the average DnD experience.

Chris’s ability to flex and adapt to what the players do is amazing. From adopting random NPCs to impromptu fight clubs (we don’t talk about them) the game moves smoothly as his. Rarely has he shut down an idea, but often has a small tweak to make it work, but not be overpowered or create too much of a mess.

DnD at its finest

Personally, I get frustrated by DMs that are rigid when it comes to rules and have forgotten that DnD is about creative problem solving. Chris’s “rule of cool” encourages creativity which is how games should be. He’s always prepared for whatever absurdity my group throws at him, never bats an eye.
